Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

This was a great find near Tucson and Sherrie and I both agreed was worth the price of admission.  Although titled a museum it doesn't resemble traditional museums, here almost everything you see is alive and shows how beautiful the desert really is.  The trails were wonderful with both animals and different cacti.  I'm pretty sure our favorite was the hummingbird enclosure.  If you look at the pictures the baby is in the nest, the picture of the mom on the nest is a little blurry, but you can see the baby's head peeping out.

New Mexico and Arizona

Well it's been a while since the last post and we've been on the move, sometimes without WiFi (oh no).  We are at Benson, AZ now a little outside of Tucson.  We are staying at an Escapees Park SKP Saguaro and it is very nice.  We loved New Mexico, but had to make an early exit due to windstorms in the forecast.  Carlsbad Caverns was a great stop except for the elevator being out of service.  Photos don't do it justice.  Quite the walk in and out about a 750 foot drop.  The drive from Roswell NM to Tularosa NM on Hwy 70 was very scenic and had us crossing the mountains at 7500 ft.  We visited White Sands National Monument and the Pistachio Farm in Tularosa/Alamogordo.

Here in Benson we visited Tombstone, wow a throwback to my early days of watching westerns on TV.  It's a tourist stop now, but still to know that the Earp's and Clanton's once fought it out at that location is legend.

Next big stop is Yuma, AZ for about a week.
